A graduate of the University of Michigan, Mr. Ambrose received his J.D. from the University Of Cincinnati School Of Law. He is senior partner in the Ambrose Law Firm in Erie, PA. He handles litigation matters exclusively, with heavy emphasis on major criminal defense, plaintiff’s personal injury and commercial litigation in various state and federal courts throughout the country. Mr. Ambrose is a past vice president of the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and a member of the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers, the Pennsylvania and American Bar Associations.
In 1991, he was named a Fellow of the American Board of Criminal Lawyers, the premier criminal law organization in the country. He is also listed in The Best Lawyers in America 1993-2012 Criminal Law section for Pennsylvania. Mr. Ambrose is listed in Pennsylvania Super Lawyers in the Violence and White Collar Criminal Defense section for Pennsylvania. In addition, he is listed in the February 2012 edition of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh Magazine, as one of the top lawyers in White Collar Criminal Defense. Over the past 32 years, Mr. Ambrose has tried over 125 major felony cases to conclusion. He has handled 57 homicide defenses inside and outside of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He has also tried cases in 16 different states, the majority of those being in various Federal District Courts. At the present time, he devotes 100% of his practice to trying major criminal and civil cases inside and outside of the state of Pennsylvania. Mr. Ambrose has obtained several of the largest medical malpractice verdicts in northwestern Pennsylvania.
Mr. Ambrose has obtained the largest medical malpractice verdicts in northwestern Pennsylvania. In December 2002, he obtained a verdict of $4.1 million in a medical malpractice case, tried in the Court of Common Pleas of Erie County. The verdict was the fifth largest medical malpractice award in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 2002. Mr. Ambrose also obtained the acquittal of the former Mayor of the City of Erie on conspiracy and public corruption charges following an extensive joint investigation by the FBI and Attorney General. Mr. Ambrose has lectured extensively to various legal organizations involving criminal defense and plaintiff’s medical malpractice, as well as various law schools regarding trial practice both civil and criminal.
